ABOUT US

Core Connect is born from a vision created by Columbia Residential Founder, Noel Khalil, before his death. He had a dream to start a nonprofit organization that served the people to provide them with the core elements needed to not only attain affordable housing, but to provide the elements needed to transition a family from generational poverty to long-term stability. As a result Core Connect, Inc. was founded in his honor, along with the Noel Khalil Scholarship Fund.

TAMMY'S STORY

I am a proud future educator in the community where I was raised, where I serve, and where I currently reside. Pursuing a college degree is a huge steppingstone for me to transition from living in poverty my whole life. Ultimately, I want my life, goals, and educational pursuits to be a testament to those who feel bound by poverty. I am determined to make sure my students understand that; “Where your life START does not have to dictate where it will END!”  I sincerely have an endless passion to instill knowledge, compassion, and love to all those that cross my path. Therefore, this scholarship will help me significantly in accomplishing this dream. This scholarship will help me significantly because I am not in a financial position to pay for my last semester of school. I feel I am worthy of consideration because I have persevered through many obstacles to get me to this point including a sudden tragedy that resulted in a devastating loss of a core member of my family. Trying to remain strong for my children, I had to push through this degree with a lot of tears, determination, and misfortunes. It was very hard at times trying to juggle being a full-time worker, full time student, and full time single mom (who had to become an unofficial grieving counselor overnight for my kids). Although times were hard, I still wanted to give more to my children and community; even though I was empty. Through it all, I never lost sight of my love to give and endure. As I embark on this amazing journey through education, I promise to always strive to bring out the absolute best in our future leaders and I am grateful for the Noel Khalil Scholarship and Core Connect, Inc..
